THE LEGENDARY ‘BAGATELLE’ OF JOILENE
Joilene lived deep in the New Orleans marshes beyond the Chowtaw Bayou with her stepfather and seven brothers during the turn of the Century. Motherless and forced to clean and care for the entire brew gave her very little time for education and rarely except for shopping for staples did she ever leave the swampy Island.
Joilene would spend hours in the eerie marshes with the woman known as the Bagatelle, shrouded with magically wonderful mystery. They became very close and the woman knew of the troubles that Joilene lived with daily. A step father that rarely drew a sober breath, brothers that were demanding, demeaning, thoughtless, crude and filled with untrusting hearts.
One day the woman handed Joilene a crumpled cloth with something tied within and told her to place it in between in the mattress of her stepfathers bed. Within the change of one season Joilene happily noticed a wonderful transition and soon the Bagatelle Woman had given her “Things” to place under the beds of her brothers. The seasons continued to change and so did the lives of her family. Shared laughter, compassion, direction, and love took over the home. Joilene and her brothers, went on to find love an marry, she shared her devoted learning and understanding of the magically roots to summon nature spirits as well as ancient magical seals to summon higher mysticism, to help keep love and harmony in their lives, a gift passed to her from the Woman of the Bagatelle. The descendants of Joilene and her sister-in-laws have kept the sacred vow to share the “Bagatells” of the Chowtaw Bayou woman.
